2014 Celebration of Song Benefit Concert and Raffle Features Outstanding Performance by Grammy Award Winner Tom Paxton

More than 200 Washington Lawyers’ Committee supporters gathered for the Committee’s 4th Annual Celebration of Song Benefit Concert and Raffle on Monday, November 24, 6:30pm – 9:00pm, at Theatre J, DC Jewish Community Center, 1529 16th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20036.

The Benefit Concert featured an outstanding special performance by Grammy Award-winning folk singer Tom Paxton, along with the Washington Revels Jubilee Voices, and Woodrow Wilson High School Concert Choir. The Committee presented its 2014 Performing Artist Lifetime Achievement Award to Tom Paxton for his musical contributions to the cause of civil rights. Concert and raffle proceeds benefited the Committee and its DC Public School Partnership Program.

The evening began with a pre-performance reception with hors d’oeuvres and beverages, and a raffle for five outstanding one-of-a-kind prize packages.

The winner of the grand prize Trip to Paris was John W. Nields, Jr., Senior Of Counsel, Covington & Burling LLP.

Caroline M. Brown, Partner, Covington & Burling LLP won the Chicago Weekend package.

The Weekend in New York City prize was awarded to William J. Tuttle, Partner, Dechert LLP.

Thomas G. Hentoff, Partner, Williams & Connolly LLP, prevailed to take home the Collection of Fine Wines.

Melissa Rothstein, Deputy Director, Equal Rights Center, drew the final prize—The DC Sports Extravaganza, a multi-sport tickets package.
