The Washington Lawyers’ Committee wrote a letter to DC Councilmember Charles Allen thanking him for his ongoing support for important legislation to decriminalize fare evasion.
While not a complete fix, this bill will be a good first step in addressing the serious problem of racially biased enforcement of fare laws. We urge all DC Councilmembers to join Councilmember Allen in support of the bill.
