Along with co-counsel Beveridge & Diamond, we filed suit against Walter Reed in May 2018 because their bathrooms were inaccessible to people in wheelchairs. This is particularly troubling at a hospital designed to serve disabled veterans and their families. In September 2018, the hospital claimed they had a plan to make the necessary repairs and renovations to ensure accessibility, staying the litigation. We received notice in December 2019 that the restrooms were renovated to comply with the ADA. However, inaccessible conditions at Walter Reed persist despite years of litigation and numerous representations of progress and compliance. Expert investigation found dozens of violations of the ADA standards for accessibility and, in fact, the restrooms are still not compliant with the ADA. We are now working to lift the stay to hold Walter Reed accountable and ensure the restrooms are accessible.
