The discussion was led by guests Avis Buchanan, former WLC alumna and head of PDS & Ben Wilson, former Co-Chair of the Board, current Member and leadership at Beveridge & Diamond.
Ben and Avis have long been engaged in racial justice and racial equity work. They discussed
the impact over the last two years of the COVID pandemic and the racial justice protests and
offer thoughts on the lasting effects. Avis discussed changes to the criminal legal system,
including arrest practices, court operations, and incarceration. While Ben offered his observation on
how the conversation and practices regarding diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and
beyond were influenced by the last two years.
Jack Keeney, who recently re-joined the Board, was our host and Jonathan Smith moderated
the panel on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.
